Capella and its population of 1000, is the centre of an arts catchment area of 40-50 000 people. The Capella Cultural Centre is the hub of a lively cultural scene and caters for all forms of visual and performing arts. Since its opening in 1993, the Centre has hosted a wide range of acts including Habana Night Cuban Dance, Jon English, Spanish Dancing Horses, ‘The Hot Shoe Shuffle’, the Russian Cossack Dancers, Diane Cilento, Lee Kernaghan, Slim Dusty, Queensland Ballet, Theatrefest, Tommy Emmauel and The Hollies.
It features a cinema, stage and 500 seat auditorium. a 120 seat function room, a fabulous kitchen that can cater for up to 600, 23 metres of picture hanging rail in the foyer/gallery, a bar, a candy bar and a box office. The Centre is also the ideal venue for balls, weddings, conventions and conferences.
The local community (including a “Friends of the Theatre” group) is very supportive of visiting artists and cultural events.
